The Posturepedic Hybrid sits in the middle of Sealy’s own lineup. It is 12 inches (30 cm) tall and comes in Medium or Firm. Choose Medium if you sleep on your side or switch positions, and Firm if you sleep on your back or stomach or need your hips held level.

Under a breathable, antibacterial cover it uses ComfortSense gel memory foam over a layer of high-density encased coils that Sealy says reduce motion. A coil edge runs around the sides, so the mattress does not dip much when you sit on it.

A Queen costs $999, about half the $1,999 of the Sealy Posturepedic Elite Hybrid. You lose the Elite’s extra set of coils but keep the core Posturepedic support.

Sealy delivers it free with in-home setup, and it comes with a 90-night trial (returns refunded minus the return shipping fee) and a 10-year limited warranty.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“The Posturepedic Hybrid keeps the core support of the Sealy Posturepedic Elite Hybrid, which makes it the best value in Sealy's own range. It has fewer cooling extras, so hot sleepers should pay up for the Elite in its High Point II version, which adds Sealy's Advanced Cooling Cover.”
