The Saatva Classic is the mattress Saatva built its business on: an innerspring with two coil layers and a 3-inch Euro pillow top. You choose between three firmness levels (Plush Soft, Luxury Firm and Firm) and two heights, 11.5 in (29 cm) and 14.5 in (37 cm). The taller version is not meant for adjustable bases.

Under the organic cotton blend cover sit the pillow top, a Lumbar Zone with an active spinal wire and memory foam in the center third, a layer of individually wrapped comfort coils and a tempered steel support coil unit. Saatva counts more than 1,000 coils from Full size up. The coils keep air moving, so the Classic sleeps cooler than an all-foam bed.

The Luxury Firm version sits at 5 to 7 on the Saatva scale and suits back and combination sleepers. Side sleepers who want more cushion should look at Plush Soft, and stomach sleepers at Firm. Saatva rates the Classic for up to 300 lb per sleeper.

A Queen in the 11.5-inch height costs $2,229. That includes free white glove delivery and setup, a 365-night trial and a lifetime warranty. The mattress is made to order and assembled in the U.S., so plan for a longer wait than with a boxed bed.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“The Saatva Classic is the safe pick if you want a traditional innerspring feel with real bounce and a pillow top. Choose the Luxury Firm for most back and combination sleepers, Plush Soft for side sleepers and Firm for stomach sleepers. You pay more than for a boxed hybrid, but delivery, setup and the lifetime warranty are included.”
