The PurplePlus takes The Purple Mattress and adds a 2-inch Ultra Comfort foam layer under the grid, then splits the base into two foams. The result stands 11 inches (28 cm) tall, almost 2 inches more than the entry model, and still uses no springs.

That extra layer changes the feel more than the spec sheet suggests. The grid still flexes under your shoulder and hip, but there is now a softer cushion behind it, so side sleepers sink a little deeper before the support takes over. Purple rates it medium, and we put it at 5 out of 10.

Temperature stays in Purple’s favor: the open grid keeps air moving and the Ultra Comfort foam is described as breathable. Motion isolation is strong, as on every all-foam Purple.

Without coils, the edge feels softer than on the Restore Hybrid when you sit on the side, and the bounce is muted. A Queen lists at $2,099 on purple.com.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“We recommend the PurplePlus to combination sleepers who roll from back to side during the night and found the original Purple a touch firm. If you sleep hot or want more lift at the edges, the Restore Hybrid is worth the step up.”
