Best Queen Mattresses

The queen is the most popular mattress size in America, and also the one where a brand's headline price misleads most, because that figure is usually for a twin. A good queen has to keep two people level on 60 inches of width, hold its edge so neither of you rolls off, and still make sense at its real queen price and return terms. Our reviews and comparison judge every pick on exactly that, from budget foam to pillow-top hybrids.

Best Queen Mattresses: every pick reviewed

Saatva Classic
Saatva ClassicSaatva ClassicSaatva Classic
Best overall

Saatva Classic

If you can only buy one queen for a shared bed, make it the Saatva Classic. A layer of wrapped comfort coils over a steel support unit gives it lively bounce and a firm perimeter, and the 3-inch Euro pillow top adds cushion at the shoulders.

It ranks above the WinkBed, which scores a tenth higher, because it is the more complete package for a couple, with a lower regular queen price, delivery that includes setup in your bedroom and a pillow top that works across three firmness levels. The 11.5-inch queen costs $2,229 with a 365-night trial (a return carries a $99 processing fee) and a lifetime warranty. Choose Luxury Firm unless one of you sleeps strictly on the side (Plush Soft) or the stomach (Firm).

Pros
  • Lively, responsive bounce from two coil layers
  • Three firmness levels to suit both of you
  • Delivered and set up in your bedroom for free
Cons
  • Pricier than most picks here at regular price
  • The 14.5-inch version can't go on an adjustable base
  • Made to order, so delivery takes longer

Nectar Classic Memory Foam

Most couples furnishing a first shared bedroom should start here, because at $699 the Nectar Classic queen costs a fraction of our top pick.

It has a firm, even feel and an all-foam build, so it stays quiet when one of you gets up at night and keeps the hips of back sleepers in line. Side sleepers who want foam will find softer models in our memory foam mattress comparison.

Pros
  • Flat, even support for back sleepers
  • Year-long trial and lifetime warranty at a low price
Cons
  • Presses on side sleepers' shoulders
  • All-foam build can sleep warm

WinkBed
WinkBedWinkBedWinkBed
Best lower-back support

WinkBed

WinkBed's flagship earns the highest score in this ranking thanks to its support. Zoned coils firm up under the lower back, and stiffer coils around the perimeter keep the sides from collapsing when you sit down to put on your shoes.

It ranks third because a queen costs $1,799 during the current sale against $699 for the Nectar, and its regular queen price is higher than the Saatva's. Order Luxury Firm for back sleepers and couples; the Softer and Firmer versions cost the same. Our mattresses for back pain page covers more options.

Pros
  • Zoned coils hold up the lower back
  • Three feels, all at one price
  • Lifetime warranty with full replacement
Cons
  • Steep regular price outside its sales
  • Swapping the firmness later costs extra
  • 13 inches tall, so you need deep-pocket sheets

Leesa Original Mattress
Leesa Original MattressLeesa Original MattressLeesa Original Mattress
Best motion isolation

Leesa Original Mattress

Light sleepers who share a queen with a restless partner get the most out of the Leesa Original. Two inches of memory foam sit under a bouncier plant-based foam, so a partner's movement barely registers on your side while the top layer still lets you change position easily.

The 10-inch medium feel suits back and side sleepers alike, and the queen costs $999. Heavier couples, or anyone who sits on the edge to dress, will be happier on a hybrid such as the Helix Midnight.

Pros
  • You barely feel a partner get in or out of bed
  • Sleeps cooler than classic memory foam
Cons
  • Edges compress when you sit
  • Lacks support for heavy stomach sleepers

Helix Midnight
Helix MidnightHelix MidnightHelix Midnight
Best for side sleepers

Helix Midnight

Side sleepers need cushion under the shoulder and hip, and enough spring below to keep the spine straight. The Helix Midnight layers memory foam over up to 1,000 wrapped coils with reinforced edges, a medium feel that Helix rates 6 out of 10.

A queen costs $1,478.75 before the promo codes Helix regularly runs. You'll find more picks for this position in our side sleeper mattress comparison.

Pros
  • Cushions shoulders and hips on your side
  • Coils keep the spine straight and the air moving
  • Made in the US
Cons
  • Stomach sleepers will sag at the hips
  • Cooling cover costs extra

The Purple Mattress
The Purple MattressThe Purple MattressThe Purple Mattress
Best cooling option

The Purple Mattress

Hot sleepers, and couples who warm each other up under one comforter, should consider the Purple Mattress, $1,599 in queen. Its 2-inch GelFlex Grid is a lattice of open squares that lets air move and gives way under hips and shoulders without the slow sink of memory foam.

At 9.25 inches it is the thinnest bed in this ranking, which suits lighter couples better than heavier ones.

Pros
  • Open grid sleeps cooler than solid foam
  • Medium-firm feel suits back and combination sleepers
  • Cheapest way into Purple's grid
Cons
  • The grid feel takes some getting used to
  • Thin for heavier sleepers, no coils
  • Shorter trial, with a 21-night minimum

DreamCloud Classic Hybrid
DreamCloud Classic HybridDreamCloud Classic HybridDreamCloud Classic Hybrid
Best firm option

DreamCloud Classic Hybrid

Couples who both like a firm bed have a strong value choice in the DreamCloud Classic Hybrid. DreamCloud puts it at 8.5 on its 10-point firmness scale, and the quilted Euro top softens the first contact while pocketed coils add bounce and airflow.

At $699 it sits in the same price bracket as the Nectar Classic, so pick the DreamCloud over the all-foam Nectar if you run warm, sleep on your stomach or often sit on the edge of the bed.

Pros
  • Firm support under a soft quilted top
  • Coils add bounce and airflow
  • Firm enough for stomach sleepers
Cons
  • Only 1 inch of memory foam, so little contouring
  • Thin cushioning for lighter bodies

Siena Signature 10″ Memory Foam

It isn't built for two heavier adults every night. Our cheap mattress comparison has more picks under $500.

Buying advice

What to look for when buying

“Choose the queen that keeps your partner's movement on their side and stays firm right to the edge, then settle the firmness by how each of you sleeps.”

Queen, full or king for two sleepers

The queen is the most popular mattress size in the US, according to the Sleep Foundation, and for most couples it is the right balance between sleeping space and floor space. The table shows the width each size leaves per sleeper, and the smallest floor area it needs once you add the Sleep Foundation’s recommended 24 inches of walkway at the foot and on both sides, before the frame.

Size Mattress (inches) Width per sleeper Floor area with walkways
Full 54 x 75 27 in 8 ft 6 in x 8 ft 3 in
Queen 60 x 80 30 in 9 ft x 8 ft 8 in
King 76 x 80 38 in 10 ft 4 in x 8 ft 8 in
California king 72 x 84 36 in 10 ft x 9 ft

The 5 extra inches of length over a full are what taller sleepers notice first. If you sprawl, share the bed with a child or a dog, or both stand over 6 feet, compare our best king mattresses. Sleeping alone in a small room, a full mattress saves space and money.

Foam, hybrid or coil-on-coil

All-foam queens, here the Nectar Classic, Leesa Original and Siena, cost the least and absorb a partner’s movement best, but they hold more heat and the edges compress when you sit. Hybrids put foam over pocketed coils, so they breathe better, hold the edge and feel livelier. The Helix Midnight, DreamCloud Classic and WinkBed are built this way, and our hybrid mattress comparison goes deeper.

The Saatva Classic goes a step further with two coil layers under a pillow top. That gives the most bounce and the firmest perimeter on this page, and it also lets through a little more of a partner’s movement than foam does. The Purple Mattress is a category of its own, a flexible polymer grid over foam.

Firmness when you sleep differently

Firmness should follow sleep position and body weight. Side sleepers usually need a medium feel so shoulders and hips can sink in, while back and stomach sleepers, and anyone over about 230 lbs, do better on medium-firm to firm. Couples who disagree should meet in the middle rather than buy for one person, which is easy with the Saatva Classic and the WinkBed, sold in several firmness levels at one price. If your preferences are far apart, a queen can’t be split, but a split king, two Twin XL mattresses side by side, can.

Frame, sheets and returns

A 60-inch mattress needs a frame with center support. Saatva’s warranty, for example, requires vertical center support on queen and larger frames, and slats spaced less than 4 inches apart on platform beds. Boxed mattresses go on a platform, slats or a foundation, so you rarely need a traditional box spring. Check the pocket depth of your fitted sheets too, since the 13-inch WinkBed and the 14.5-inch Saatva option need deep-pocket sheets.

Read the return terms before you order. Nectar, DreamCloud and Leesa give a full refund within a year, Saatva deducts a $99 processing fee, and Purple asks you to sleep on its mattress for 21 nights before you can send it back. For every size and type in one place, see our best mattresses ranking.

Methodology

How we rate

Every mattress here was judged as a queen, for two people. We priced each one in queen (60 x 80 in) at the brand’s own US store rather than the twin price that headlines most listings, and confirmed the queen could be ordered on October 29, 2026. A sale price appears only when the brand applies it to every shopper.

Our test score combines comfort (30 percent), support (25), temperature (15) and value (30), judged from each model’s construction, coil design, firmness, trial, warranty and certifications. On a shared queen, motion isolation and edge support count for more inside the comfort and support scores, and the return terms count for more inside value, since sending back a queen is a bigger job. The score does not set the order on its own. Wherever a pick ranks above a higher-scored one, cheaper or pricier, its card names the reason, usually the queen price, the delivery service or the trial terms.

Every foam-based pick except the WinkBed lists CertiPUR-US certification, which requires VOC emissions under 0.5 parts per million and foams made without formaldehyde, mercury, lead or other heavy metals.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What are the dimensions of a queen mattress?

A standard queen mattress measures 60 inches wide by 80 inches long (152 x 203 cm), and the picks on this page range from 9.25 to 14.5 inches thick. Olympic queen (66 x 80 in) and RV short queen (60 x 75 in) are different sizes that need their own sheets and frames.

Is a queen mattress big enough for two people?

A queen gives each sleeper 30 inches of width, 8 inches less per person than a king, which works for most couples who sleep fairly close. Couples who want more room each should step up to a king at 76 x 80 inches.

How much does a good queen mattress cost?

The queens in our ranking start at $329 for the Siena Signature and go up to $2,229 for the Saatva Classic. The mid-range picks, from the Nectar Classic to the Purple Mattress, fall between $699 and $1,599.

Which queen mattress should I choose?

Choose the Saatva Classic if you want one mattress that suits most couples, the Nectar Classic for the best value and the WinkBed if lower-back support matters most. Side sleepers do best on the Helix Midnight, light sleepers on the Leesa Original, and hot sleepers on the Purple Mattress.

When is the best time to buy a queen mattress on sale?

US mattress sales cluster around the three-day holiday weekends and Black Friday. In late October 2026, Leesa and WinkBed were running sitewide sales of 25 to 30 percent, and Saatva was taking 15 percent off orders over $1,000. Check the brand's own site before you pay list price.

Does a queen mattress need a box spring?

No, a platform, a slatted frame or a foundation works just as well, as long as a queen frame has center support legs that reach the floor.
