The CoolNest Hybrid puts Sweetnight’s cooling foams on top of a coil unit. The 12-inch model has eight layers: an ice silk cover, a quilted DuoSense pillow top with gel memory foam and plush foam, a PCMflux phase change foam, a high-density support foam and 600 individually pocketed coils framed by a firm foam edge.

Sweetnight rates it medium firm, which we put at 6 out of 10. The pillow top gives a soft first touch, and the coils push back underneath, so you sleep on the mattress rather than in it. That suits back sleepers and couples who change position often.

Sweetnight measures motion transfer under 15 percent and coil noise under 25 dB, its own figures. The coil layer also leaves room for air to move, so it should sleep cooler than the all-foam CoolNest in practice.

A 12-inch Queen costs $499.99 on sweetnight.com. It is sold in Full, Queen, King and California king, with a 100-night trial and a 10-year limited warranty.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“Of the three Sweetnight beds we list, this is the one we would choose for two people. Single sleepers on a tight budget get most of the cooling for less with the all-foam CoolNest.”
