The Restore Hybrid is where Purple’s range gets springs. Under the familiar 2-inch GelFlex Grid sits a comfort foam and an 8-inch system of individually wrapped coils, for a total height of 11.5 inches (29 cm).

The coils change two things you will notice at once. The bed pushes back when you shift, so turning over is easier than on the all-foam models, and the perimeter holds up better when you sit on the edge to put your shoes on. Purple describes the feel as medium; we score it 5 out of 10.

It is also one of the coolest beds in the lineup. Air passes through the open grid and then through the coil core, which is why hot sleepers should start here.

The price is the hurdle: a Queen is $2,699 at list, there is no Twin, and the mattress weighs about 114 lb in Queen.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“If you can stretch the budget, the Restore Hybrid is the Purple we would buy: it keeps the grid's pressure relief, adds the bounce and edge support of coils and sleeps cool. Couples and hot sleepers gain the most over the all-foam beds.”
