The One is Casper’s entry mattress and, by its own label, its best seller. It is an 11-inch (28 cm) all-foam bed with three layers: a breathable polyurethane foam on top, memory foam in the middle and a dense base foam Casper calls Casper Core.

The feel is medium firm, which we put at 6 on our 1 to 10 scale. The top foam is springy rather than slow, so you get a little bounce and can turn over without fighting the mattress. Back and stomach sleepers get even support; side sleepers above average weight may want more give at the shoulder.

Casper says every layer is made to breathe, and the open-cell top foam does help, but an all-foam bed without coils will not match the Casper Snow, the brand’s cooling hybrid, for cooling.

The price is the argument: a Queen costs $1,074 on casper.com, with a 100-night trial and a 10-year limited warranty.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“The One is a safe, affordable pick for back and stomach sleepers who want a known brand and an easy return policy. Side sleepers and anyone with lower back pain should look at the Casper Dream, which adds zoning and springs for $1,870 in a Queen.”
