The Big Fig Luxe is the pillow-top version of the Classic, aimed at heavier side sleepers. At 13 in it is the tallest Big Fig, and it adds a plush pillow top, a copper, silver and graphite infused foam layer and an LDPE cooling cover to the same base of 15-gauge pocketed coils and firm 80 ILD foam edge.

Big Fig calls the support luxury-firm. We rate it 6 out of 10, the same band as the Classic, but the extra comfort layers give the surface more give, which is what side sleepers need at the shoulder and hip. Back sleepers who want a flatter, firmer surface are better served by the Classic or the Firm model.

Cooling is the other upgrade. The LDPE fibers woven into the top panel feel cool to the touch, and Big Fig claims the cover is 10 degrees Fahrenheit cooler at first touch, against 4 degrees for the Classic’s THERMOGEL cover. That is a manufacturer figure, but cool-touch covers of this type do help warm sleepers fall asleep.

You pay about $250 more than the Classic in each size, with a Queen listed at $2,299 and the Twin at $1,859. Like the rest of the range it is made in Cleveland and comes with a 120-night trial and a lifetime warranty. It is heavy, at 146 lb for a King.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“The Luxe is the Big Fig to choose if you sleep on your side and find the Classic too firm at the shoulder. It costs more, so back sleepers should save the money and buy the Classic.”
