The Helix Midnight is the medium hybrid in the Helix lineup and the model the brand recommends for side sleepers. It is 11.5 in (29 cm) tall and Helix places it at 6 on its firmness scale.

The comfort layers start with SupremeSupport 2.5 memory foam and gel memory foam, then responsive foams that keep you from sinking too deep. Below them sit up to 1,000 individually wrapped coils with reinforced edges and a DuraDense foam base. The standard cover is a breathable knit; a GlacioTex cooling cover is an extra-cost option.

Side sleepers get the most from it, because the foam lets the shoulder and hip sink in while the coils hold the waist. Back sleepers are comfortable too. Stomach sleepers usually need more support and should look at the Helix Dawn.

A Queen lists at $1,478.75 before the sitewide code that Helix almost always runs. The mattress ships free in a box and carries a limited lifetime warranty.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“The Helix Midnight is a well-judged medium hybrid for side sleepers and the model most Helix buyers start with. Its memory foam layers cushion shoulders and hips while the coils keep the bed from feeling stuck. Stomach sleepers should choose the firmer Dawn instead.”
