Babyletto Pure Core 2-Stage Crib Mattress reviewed

Pure Core is the mattress Babyletto designed for its own cribs, though it fits any standard full-size crib at 52 by 27.75 by 5 inches. The core is recyclable polyester fiber rather than foam or springs, which keeps the weight at 11 pounds. Babyletto states it contains no polyurethane, soy foam, latex, vinyl or chemical flame retardants, and it is GREENGUARD Gold certified.

This version comes with the hybrid cover, which combines a quilted organic cotton face with a PVC-free waterproof backing in one zip-off layer. You do not need a separate waterproof pad, and the square corners help a fitted sheet sit tight. A dry-cover version sells for the same price.

The mattress is dual-sided: one side is firm for infants, the other a little softer for toddlers. We rate the infant side firm, 8 out of 10. Fiber cores are dense and do not breathe like a mesh core, so the temperature score is average in our test.

At it costs less than the Avocado mattress and carries a 10-year warranty on the mattress and one year on the cover. Babyletto makes it in the USA. As the American Academy of Pediatrics advises, check the fit at all four sides and use only a fitted sheet on top.
